My first time trying yogurt from here was when my co-worker brought me a cup. I didn't think anything of it at first besides it's probably just like any other yogurt. That was until I took one spoon of it.. O m g, Delicious, it was perfect in my mouth, it tastes so healthy and delicious and perfect! Haha btw, we put ours in the freezer for awhile so that could also add to why it just tasted and felt so good eating it! Also It is organic =] Now since one of the locations I work at is in Palo Alto, that means, I will definitely eat this yogurt again!

855 reviews already~~! I found out about this place through a Palo Alto-native and it was when I first moved to the bay and I was whining about not getting great frozen yogurt...And so she told me to check out Fraiche. Even my husband was surprised after he tasted it: "This is actually Yogurt-tasting!" (as opposed to the other swirly goodness brands that does not have enough probiotics content to be considered yogurt! ha!) and I alawys like the standard tart and the special flavors - pumpkin and pomegranate. I love how the mochi is home-made - and you can taste the difference and the freshness of the mochi compared to other mochi toppings. I liked going here for the mochi once in a while, but it wasn't until I discovered the deliciousness of adding the puree!!!! I always get puree+mochi = heaven. Never thought that puree can taste so good with yogurt. I guess what it comes down to is if you are treating yourself, would you rather pay a little extra for fresh mochi/puree and probiotics, versus a frozen sweet treat that doesn't have enough probiotics to be called Yogurt. Hmm. Personally, I'd pay the extra dollar.

This is probably the best yogurt I've had in the Bay Area. I got Oreo, Pomegranate and Soy. Soy was definitely my favorite out of the 3. I also added their homemade mochi and olallieberry puree. I don't think I can ever eat regular mochi or any other froyo like Yogurtland again.

Agree with Shannon and Lani C. Just kind of okay. I tried this on the recommendation of a few friends and was not blown away. Got both regular and soy. Neither was great. I ate the toppings and ditched the yogurt. Will not return.

Even though I adore Yogurtland, which is close by to this place, Fraiche Yogurt really does it all right. They have a great decor - cozy seating with adequate lighting-not too much fluorescent lighting as a lot of frozen yogurt places have these days. They have fresh toppings - such as cookie crumbles. And the yogurt is incredibly fresh & tart. It's one of my regular stops if I'm in the area.

The soy frozen yogurt is the only thing that I order here, and I'm glad that Fraiche has this flavor because I have yet to see it anywhere else. However, I find the rest of their frozen yogurt flavors to be average, at least when compared to my favorite place, Culture. As for toppings, their fruit ones are sweet and mildly syrupy, but I love granola and Fraiche's granola is much too sweet. I would probably get the soy flavor without any toppings and just enjoy this unique taste. This not withstanding, the shaved chocolate on regular frozen yogurt is another good choice. And, of course, I would much rather come to Fraiche than Red Mango or Pinkberry.

Such high hopes - organic yogurt, cool storefront, cute small biz - but just OK at the end of the day. Maybe I should have gotten a fruity flavor as opposed to a vanilla/chocolate combo? Vanilla was good but not great. Chocolate was richer than I typically am used to for yogurt - but not to my liking (rather would have a lighter feel, hey it's yogurt after all). Is it blasphemy to say I'd rather go to p*******y? Uh oh.

(WARNING: Parenthetical travesties abound in the review that follows. Apologies wherever necessary. Am open to corrections, but am unlikely to give a damn. More apologies.) Wow... this stuff is SO phat... (rather, "this sh*t is soooo butter..." according to my fiercely-cool 14 year-old, who ((after being chastened (in the most gentle-if-not-utterly-irrelevant) manner possible -- this yogurt is THAT GOOD, y'all...) for ripping aloud with a free-borne & entirely unnecessary "sh*t") breaks out in hives when I label something as fabulous (phabulous??) or exquisitely yum or gawd-forbid-PHAT... I do what I can to keep up, but LORD!! The neologisms!!...) Re-write: Wow... this stuff is sooooo butter. I work 50 yards away from the original (dare I report) Pinkberry in West Hollywood (which I still frankly (phrankly???) am very phond of...), but have had recent occasion to visit Palo Alto. Went to Fraiche (note to their trademark counsel: should they maybe reconsider "Phraiche" as a registered moniker?? I have a savagely savvy 14 year-old you may wish to lunch with...) yesterday. Got my socks knocked straight the hell off. This dreamy* stuff is the bomb (ohhhhhh the linguistic implications...) -- got the full-bore-fat Greek-style with apricot puree, wildflower honey and graham cracker crumbs -- and tossed on some shattered pinenut-brittle fragments of my own devising (keep them in the glove compartment -- come in handy when enhancing pretty much everything but onion rings). Will be dreaming about the resulting experience for weeks to come. Wow. This stuff is sooooo butter. (Note: my 14 year-old informs me that it is spelled "b-u-t-t-a-h". I freakin' GIVE awready... sh*t...) If SoCal franchises are ever in the works, stick a fork in me I am done. (* -- "dreamy"... Yuck. I just do not UTILIZE such words, nor HAVE I since I was my darling daughter's age... am willing AT ANY RATE to suffer public humiliation just to get my opinion across in this case... it is JUST that BUTTAH!!! And SOMEBODY owes me something commissionesque.)

YUMMY!!! I LOVE IT! That's some damn good yogurt! Guilt free? Healthy for you? Homemade? Organic and all that tree hugging stuff? Too good to be true?! Remember that Seinfeld episode with the frozen yogurt place and everyone started to gain weight? Hmmmm... Nonetheless, I will continue to go back. They have REAL dark chocolate shavings as a topping! C'mon man! Try it! Eat it! Love it! We've come a long way since T.C.B.Y. What is this Pinkberry?

Fraiche should be in its own fro-yo category since, as far as I know, it is the only frozen yogurt store that sells homegrown, totally unprocessed and, well, fresh, yogurt. It seems like that is either a priority for yogurt eaters or not, and no doubt this will affect how folks respond to the eatery. If this review were based solely on the yogurt, I'd give it 5 stars. The "natural" flavor frozen yogurt is very light, not too sweet, pleasantly, naturally, tangy, and it is really the perfect treat or all around snack, depending on how you dress it. There are slight variations in the flavor from day to day, since it's made fresh, and I've hit it a few times when I wasn't quite as happy with the quality (a bit to sweet once or twice), but overall the yogurt itself is, I find, unparalleled at least in the greater Palo Alto area. Other stuff to consider: the topping selection is nice, but the quality of the fruit offerings (which don't really change much through the seasons) is hit or miss. Look before you order (lately the blueberries have been sorta slimy). The mochi is great, and I like the coconut, nuts, and granola as well. Overall a decent selection. The coffee's great, but SLOW, and the baked goods aren't bad, but they aren't anything special either. Ambiance-wise I think the place is pretty average, but I do like all the food books they have available to browse through, and the pitchers of water. The staff range from super cheerful and pleasant to interact with, to borderline surly and only vaguely competent depending on when you drop in, and they seem to have a high turnover. One perk about some of the less experienced staff is that sometimes they give you a lot of extra yogurt. Finally, it is really pricey (I almost always drop about $7 when I go in), but it's on par with its competition I believe, and overall much yummier which is why it's always my top choice!

Mmmm...I could eat this frozen yogurt for breakfast, lunch, and dinner (and dessert!). Unlike the typical chain yogurt shops frequenting the Bay Area, Fraiche is organic, homemade and places a real emphasis on health, broadcasting on posters throughout the store that good-for-you live active cultures are preserved in the frozen treats. The yogurt is uniquely, deliciously tangy -- you can choose from the natural flavor (my favorite), soy, or chocolate. The toppings are equally tasty and creative, ranging from fruit such as pomegranate seeds, mangoes or strawberries, to crunchy granola and chocolate chunks. For the early bird stopping by Fraiche for a more conventional breakfast, oatmeal and yummy Greek yogurt (regular, not frozen) is available. They also offer a range of coffee drinks -- whenever I stop in, I get a cup of their Blue Bottle Coffee. The only bummer about this place is that it runs on the expensive side...but with a friendly, efficient staff, clean environment, and delicious food, I think it's worth the price.

Yummy!!! Wish I could give it 8 stars. Being a healthy eater that tries to do the Organic & low carb/sugar/fat thing, I can just go through the drive through. at Fraiche You can get a monster treat without all of the bad stuff and it is ammaaaazing!!!! Someone please tell me where I can get something similar in Marin / Marina!! I would suggest no toppings, as it is amazingly good plain. Some granola on top would have been good but I didn't see it. Love the contemporary decour, could be featured in Dwell Easily. Nummy!! Want to go back very soon!

I hate to write this because I have been a loyal customer and a big fan. But this is one small business that success has basically ruined. The service in the new location is horrible. Snarky, rude, incompetent, and slooooooowwwww. This used to be one great place that really added a lot to Palo Alto but it is now just another trendy, rude, overpriced place of the type we already have plenty of in PA. In general, for years you have had to struggle with Fraiche over toppings, in that they seem to have some kind of weird fruit hoarder illness where they just do not give you enough fruit and use tweezers to count the berries. I have handled that for years by just asking to be charged extra and paying more for it so that I don't have to struggle over the number of blackberries or mochi cubes or whatever. Once, I communicated with the owner about this issue, and she stated their 100% customer satisfaction policy and said "please feel free to ask for more toppings." Today, here was my experience. I ordered a single drip and a small natural in a regular cup with extra toppings. Well, first I waited 15 minutes to make my order, even though there were only 2 of us in line, because the service was insanely slow. The "barista" tried to (can I make this up?) hand me someone's abandoned coffee off the counter that had been sitting there the entire time I had been in line (15 minutes) rather than make me a single drip. I said "wait, that's not fresh, can you make me my own?" and he said (again, not making it up), "This is still pretty hot, I guess the person didn't want it." I asked him to make me a fresh cup and he acted very put out. Then I ordered yogurt my usual way saying that I would like a small in a medium cup and I wanted to order extra toppings. I ordered mango, blueberry, blackberry, and mochi. He put a very tiny amount (4 blueberries) in and I said, "I would like to pay for extra so please can I have more than that"). He made the order, which included 2 pieces of mochi and 3 blackberries and 4 pieces of mango and then tried to bill me for three extra toppings instead of 1 or 2. Usually I don't care what they charge in there -- I know it is a rip off but I like supporting local rather than just going to Pinkberry. But today because he tried to sell me someone's old abandoned coffee, I objected and said I would not pay for 3 extra when the amount of fruit on there was barely sufficient for a normal order. He immediately became incredibly rude (100% satisfaction guaranteed?) and I asked to talk to the manager. First she wasn't there, then she was sitting 5 feet away, but not reacting. I went over and asked her whether this situation was reasonable, and she ACTUALLY COUNTED THE BLACKBERRIES AND MOCHI SQUARES and concluded that each was only a half serving or some crazy horder math and then told him to charge me for 1 extra fruit. She seemed flustered and bored at the same time, and stumped by how to count the blackberries. I finally said "are you really going to argue with me over three blackberries when I am already paying like $6 for 50 cents worth of yogurt? Super short sighted. So, the upshot is I am going to Pinkberry. If you don't care about being served old coffee and bad attitude in crappy decor after a long wait, then Fraiche is for you.

I'm pretty sure Fraiche is the best frozen yogurt I've ever tried. It is a bit more expensive than other frozen yogurt places but they use organic ingredients and make most if their toppings in-house. Try the Almond Joy (Valrhona chocolate froyo, toasted coconut flakes, sliced almonds) and add shaved chocolate. The pomegranate is good, too.

My favorite spot in Palo Alto--you HAVE to eat here if you're in PA! This is NOT your typical run-of-the-mill froyo chain. I am unhealthily addicted to Fraiche and the biggest advocate of spending all your money here. I literally come here every other day, if not for breakfast than for dessert (sometimes both?!) No that's not a joke. Fraiche's artisanal organic yogurt and frozen yogurt stands out in that its fresh, low in sugar, and a great consistency--this is a healthy dessert option that leaves you feeling semi guilt-free. Even better, Fraiche posts all the nutritional facts for their yogurt online. .Not in the mood for yogurt? Then snack on baked pastries, sip on a green juice, or catch up on your work using their free Wi-Fi while drinking an espresso. The ambiance is adorable here so you won't mind lounging around. In the mornings, I stop by for their fresh yogurt with granola and a cup of Blue Bottle Coffee (New Orleans Ice Coffee, yes!) or a Spicy Chai as my perfect breakfast-on-the-go combo. The homemade granola here is the BEST--simple, not overloaded with sugar, and a great toasted flavor. At night, I come in for their Natural Froyo with just tons of granola as a topping. There's always a Soy option (which actually tastes amazing too), chocolate, and seasonal flavor. All the other toppings are great too (the mochi made in-house), but there's nothing comparable to a simple natural+granola combo. Occasionally I'll get crazy and go for the gingersnap cookie toppings. I know, so wild. Also, their chocolate chip cookie (ask them to heat it up if it's not already warm from being fresh out of the oven) is to die for. My main issue: I want to strangle 80% of the staff here. Some of the staff here are beyond great--friendly, attentive and enthusiastic (Janelle is seriously such a doll!) while others I'm not a fan of. Some of the staff here seem to be having a bad day every day while also moving at sloth speed. The speed of sloth that's been roadkill 2 months ago. It is ridiculous--they literally appear to be purposely moving in slow motion. There's also a guy who is the ultimate stingmeister when it comes to toppings and gives you a death glare if you request an extra sprinkle of toppings--it's absurd. Avoid his shift or you will leave with rabbit-food granola portions. Note: I prefer this location to Pac Heights'

MmmMmm! Nothing compares! Give me all the fro yos! I haven't had frozen yogurt from a place that can even compare to their deliciousness! Every bite is like a Thick, Creamy, Sweet fantasy! ;) Fraiche has made me a terrible yogurt snob. Southern California has nothing on Fraiche! If anything, they need a lesson or two in Frozen Yogurt 101! -.- My favorite is the Olallieberry Pie topping with Pomegranate Yogurt! It makes me so happy! Just the right amount of tart and sweet! The Graham crackers? makes it kind of crunchy too! Makes the texture a little interesting as well. I don't usually like Lemon yogurts because they're oddly made sweeter than my idea of the sour lemon. I was blown away by the flavor paired with Ginger Snaps! (So good!) Although the Meyer Lemon flavor was sugary-sweet, the Ginger Snaps did a great job masking it! (and it comes in a pretty spiral-staircase swirl!) Fraiche is Best! I'm sad I'll be moving to a place that doesn't have amazing yogurt and awesome toppings. I'll miss these frozen yogurts so much! :'( Please open one in Santa Monica! :D

this place is an organic homeboy's dream. I tried every flavor and had the original w valrona choco (for this chocoholic--yeah!). the people are friendly and the place gives good vibe. no wonder the red mango went out of business. this place is here to stay. i like how they give you the needed water that goes along w froyo and let you sample everything. the homemade granola and mochi also rocks!

I am pretty crazy for frozen yogurt, and there is no place as great as Fraiche where I'm from. Their natural yogurt had a gentler tart taste than other self-serve places I go to. Creamy instead of frosty, and tastes amazing with the clover honey drizzled on top. Am I drooling just writing about it? Yes. They have soft, home made mochi that is nothing like the pre-packaged balls other places use, and home made granola as well. Palo Alto is a bit far, but it's definitely worth the trip.

Yum! The vegan soy frozen yogurt is delicious! I love this place! There were a lot of toppings, but they aren't self serve. I prefer self serve toppings at fro-yo places, but not many places offer soy fro-yo, so I can't be picky. :-p Note: I went on a Friday night, and the place was super busy. There was a long line, and there wasn't any room to sit. I was planning on grabbing it to go, so it wasn't a big deal. But, FYI-this place is crowded on the weekend! It's that good!

Ever since my girlfriend brought over a couple pints of Fraiche to my house I have been addicted!! All I can say is VALRHONA CHOCOLATE!!! Can this yogurt really be 98% fat free? It is so damn good!! I order it with the toasted coconut, yummy! I love that their yogurt is organic and their toppings are also organic and mostly handmade. Their tart flavor is also fab but can I just say VALRHONA CHOCOLATE one more time. I pray that they open a Fraiche in the Danville/SanRamon area so I won't have to drive for over one hour to get my favorite froyo fix. Btw, Steve Jobs is a regular here...need I say more.

Fraiche Yogurt is the only yogurt in the world where I would pay $5 a cup for. It's homemade, it's fresh - and unbelievably good. Before I wrote this review, I was reading through a number of other reviews - and alot of them said that it tastes like cardboard....so I guess yogurt really is a matter of opinion. If you checked out my location, I am in San Diego - NOT Palo Alto. But Fraiche yogurt is truly the best I have ever taste(again, matter of opinion). And it has to do with the fact that tuttimelon, red mango...and other well known chains of frozen yogurt - all get their yogurt from the same factory(which is heavily sugared - and leaves you very thirsty after a few spoonful). Fraiche literally has a "plant" in the back of their store - where they do the whole deal, fermentation....blah blah blah. So it tastes very light, airy, and unbelievably fresh - it quenches my thirst, instead of making me thirsty. My favorite is the natural and soy. I skip the chocolate because it tastes too sugary and creamy. The POM is the new one, but I am not a big fan. Also, one of the most popular toppings is the mochi, and that's probably one of the best things about Fraiche - they make their mochi fresh in the back. And all the chain stores like red mango all get their mochi shipped(ever wonder why all the mochi is small and circle shaped?) - at Fraiche, the mochi pieces are large and absolutely delicious. I recommend getting the large natural with double mochi and shaved chocolate - it's what I get each time I go visit San Francisco. Mostly, I end up ordering another tub. Also, I don't like coffee. I get dizzy when I walk into a coffee aroma filled Starbucks. But have you tried the Blue Bottle Coffee in Fraiche? Wow, it's amazing! I don't know how to describe it - but I enjoy a cup of light earl grey tea every morning, and the coffee tastes light and sweet - but definitely does the trick of coffee! And if you are still hungry, try their banana bread or other "bread" - fresh daily from an organic baker that lives in Palo Alto. Fraiche also bake cookies of their own - get them when they are hot(and only when they are hot - it tastes heavenly) Then there's my favorite - and something that Fraiche is not known for - but it's my best kept secret in Palo Alto(other than how I used to chill and party at the Enchanted Broccoli Forest at Stanford in the summer) - the Oatmeal. Try this: A small cup of oatmeal with low-fat fresh(they have frozen yogurt and fresh yogurt - all made fresh in the back of the store) yogurt, topped with agave nectar and pieces of strawberries and kiwi. Welcome to breakfast heaven! It's so good - you have to have it once in your life! Bottom line: Go to fraiche and ask for a sample of the natural frozen yogurt - you will either hate it and never go back, or love it so much that you will drive 500 miles 3 times a year to Palo Alto to order their yogurt and oatmeal when you are there. And order extra cups of coffee and bread when you drive 8 hours back to San Diego.

The frozen yogurt here is very smooth, not too sweet, and has just a little bit of tanginess depending on the flavor you choose. I always get the mango yogurt if they have it. They also have a good selection of toppings as well, like kiwi, awesome house mochi, and organic "oreos". They also have Blue Bottle, but the drip coffee they serve is a bit inconsistent. One time it was delicious like I expected, but another it was off. Not a big deal, but I usually dont go here for the coffee anyway.

  • Marian A.

I think I've sampled everything, but I always get natural. It took me a few visits to get used to the taste. It's not as sweet as other regular frozen yogurts. I love that they have a large block of chocolate and you can see them shave it. I came in around 9 pm yesterday. I wanted to get a "V-5" juice... (The juice is pre-made and available in the fridge. It looks gross when the layers have separated but the staff shakes the container to mix it back up.) They were out of the V-5 juice and the staff refused to make a fresh juice. I didn't want to argue so I got yogurt. I got a teeny amount of one topping but the person at the register insisted on charging me for 2 toppings. She said it was store policy. Other than my experience yesterday, I've always had good customer service.

My friend took me here while I was visiting her up north. You can't help but compare this place to pinkberry, yogurtland, etc. Fraiche is definitely the winner! We ordered the plain and the oreo topped with dried figs. Figs?? Never had them till now and they were chewy and sweet! Yummy! The yogurt was extremely natural-tasting and wasn't too tart. Very refreshing and tasted perfect!

  • Cheralyn H.

OK so the one thing this place is missing is the cereal & candy toppings. I decided to bring my own toppings along - Butterfinger, Snickers & M&M's. If I had easy access to Fruity Pebbles or Cap'n Crunch I would have brought those too, but the vending machines at work don't have cereal....yet - I need to write a letter. Anyway I thought I was a genius to bring my own candy but guess what? Candy isn't so good atop tart fro-yo! Dammit! It was OK with the choloate flavor though!

I had to forgo my weekly Red Mango trip for this. Well, I had heard quite a bit about this place so I wanted to see if it was up to the challenge. I did my research and I learned that this place had fresh yogurt which sounded pretty interesting. I tried a scoop of the fresh yogurt and I thought it was pretty good. However, I didn't get to put it to the test with an order and topped with goodies. Next time! I did try the regular frozen yogurt and it was delicious. I ordered the mochi topping but instead of getting little small mochi balls, I got one GIANT glutinous rice ball. The mochi balls had clumped together to become mega mochi ball which did adversely affect my experience. C'mon, I want the individual balls! I think they might need to go with another mochi vendor because the existing solution isn't cutting it. I use Red Mango as my measuring stick (because it's my favorite so far) and this yogurt is up to par. This place has a lot of cool topping such chocolate shavings and toasted coconut. The only thing they need to work on is that mochi.

OK why do people like YUMI when there is FRAICHE?!?! PLAIN AND SIMPLE, fraiche! When you go to their website...plain and simple. They just give you their hours and a link to send them an email! I LOVE IT! Ok this little joint is hidden away on emerson and I admit I overlooked it many times. NOT ANYMORE! To me, I see those flood lights shining upon this mecca! Flavors, frozen yogurt...SOY, NATURAL and CHOCOLATE. Are there any more flavors? I have no idea. I don't care. A cup of frozen NATURAL and some strawberries! Mmm...good. Did I tell you that the fruit is all natural? Not canned/frozen? They also have natural yogurt freshly made. Greek style. Low fat and non fat. I think I will be having some next time! A bit pricey. A junior cup with strawberries basically costed me $4. YES I know I can get a pint of haagen daz. But it was soo good and refreshing. I definitely will come back for more.

I've been here many times. The fresh yogurt is really the star here. The oatmeal is also great, and the frozen yogurt is good. I have now tried this "Pinkberry" that all of the cool kids talk about, and I prefer the fresh yogurt here, although I wish this place would have a green tea flavor of the frozen yogurt. Call me crazy. For all of those people who stick to the frozen yogurt, you are missing out on the fresh full-fat yogurt with honey and granola which is something truly worth obsessing over, or at least that is what I tell myself. The yogurt is made in-house and is Greek-style, meaning that it is strained and as a result is much thicker and richer than the supermarket yoplait variety. It is a bit pricey at $5 per serving (medium with 2 toppings) but if you compare it to a comparable product at a grocery store (FAGE yogurt with some fresh fruit) it isn't that much more, is much fresher and is served in a nice environment. Besides the yogurt, I've had the New Orleans iced coffee (w/ chickory, milk and sugar), the espresso, and the cookies, all of which are very good. Finally, I am proud not to have used some pun involving the word "cultured" in this review...

Yikes! One small bite and I made an ugly face. It was awful and left this weird film and aftertaste on my tongue. It's icy, not tangy, not sweet, but a watered down nutrasweet tasting frozen crap. Go to Harmony in San Carlos!!

Dear Lord, I'm an addict. Let me confess: I cannot stop dreaming about, talking about, sneaking out to go buy this yogurt. Holy crap, it's delicious. That slightly tart, slightly sweet, cold, melt-in-your-mouth sensation...the red ripe strawberries and pulpy green kiwis pressed into the side of the mountain of yogurt...and the coffee, oh! the coffee! My husband told me if I stopped sounding like a walking advertisement for the admittedly heinously expensive Fraiche, he'd buy me a new pair of shoes. Husband does not promise lightly, knowing my fetish for pricey footwear of the comfortable variety, and knowing also how tired he is of tripping over my glut of said footwear. But lord have mercy, I just can't help myself. Did I mention that it's fat free? And I'm not even a soccer mom...

My wife and I love this place. It's got a prime location in paradise (A.K.A. DT Palo Alto), and really hits the spot after a long workout at the Stanford Dish hike. I always get the chocolate, which is a little more bitter - like a dark chocolate - with raspberry puree and almonds. My wife always gets the passion fruit since it's tangy/fruity. Both of them are non-fat, delicious and healthy. I think it's on the high end of the yogurt price spectrum, but I've never felt like it was a bad deal. P.S. less is more, I'm always perfectly satisfied with the nano or the small size. Don't go too crazy!

You get what you pay for- it's expensive but really yummy. I've had nearly everything on their menu since they've opened a location at Stanford. ++Pluses 1) I never get the chocolate topping because chocolate on frozen items loses its taste. 2) The mochi is really yummy and loads better than the mochi at pink berry and yogurt land. 3) They have absolutely delicious cookies that are chewy and doughy. 4) Their blue bottle coffee is not bitter and really delicious. 5) The froyo tastes super fresh. Although this place is great, they get -1 for not having wifi. I've also gotten a bit sick of the yogurt for eating so much of it. It's definitely just an occasional treat.

I have a sugar craving! I can't help it, I just luv to eat frozen yogurt, cheesecake, drink boba milk tea & starbucks drinks, etc even though all these things are bad for me and high in calories. I dropped by Fraiche Yogurt today wanting to try their original yogurt, but it wasn't what I expected. The yogurt wasn't tart enough and the fruits weren't fresh. The price of the yogurt was also pricey. I paid $4.85 for a junior size (the smallest size) w/2 toppings. I still like my Pinkberry! I won't mind going to LA to get me some if that's what it takes me to get some good old-fashion yogurt.

Those that don't understand why Fraiche's frozen yogurt is tart is looking for high fructose corn syrup or a powdered mix. Fraiche uses THEIR OWN, ORGANIC yogurt&milk to make frozen yogurt (what a novel idea!) - and the natural is plain frozen yogurt, not vanilla. FORGET YUMI YOGURT. I've suddenly realized how extraordinarily disgusting Yumi Yogurt is. All of those places use powders- and Fraiche does not. Lovelovelovelovelove. The chocolate frozen yogurt was surprisingly good. I agree with Charles H. down there- I never liked chocolate flavored foods before (especially not yogurt!) but this tasted great! I like the natural junior cup (they have 3 flavors-natural, chocolate, and soy). The best of both worlds and without toppings it is $3. I don't need toppings to make me happyy! The yogurt is good as is. I'm not a fan of the price either but it's organic and as a purchaser of organic foods I know how expensive it can be-- so their prices are very reasonable. And since dairy is one of the top foods that can be contaminated by pesticides&co, I want my yogurt organic! On a side note, they also have steaming hot steel cut oatmeal. Oh, and the purees are amazing! So are the baked goods. The first time I went they were a bit dry but today the (also amazing) breakfast bar made me go "OoooOOoooh." Note: They have bathrooms- just ask for a key.

Get. The. Coffee. Iced or hot, latte or not. Get it. Yogurt toppings that are yummy and taste good? Who knew. Delish and worth a trip during a work day when it's a bit quiet. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Yummy: go au natural without toppings and it's delish; feeling a bit extravagant, add some healthy toppings Simple: 3 flavors to choose from -- take that, indecisive one! Soy (98% fat free), vanilla (non-fat) and chocolate (non-fat) Expensive: but worth the cost -- $4 for a small is definitely pricey, especially when they actually WEIGH the yogurt... I guess you gotta give it to them for precision! I was lucky enough to sit back and watch a woman get into an argument with a few of the staff about how "fat free" doesn't mean the same as "non fat"... Huh? What? Okay, I have some experience with the sciences and, technically, there is truth here... But COME ON LADY ... And let me follow that up with -- this woman did NOT know the technical or scientific argument ... So, lesson learned: while standing in line for some overpriced and yummy organic yogurt, you too could be entertained!

Is this the bay area copy of LA's Pinkberry??? Pros: A different trend from the typical fattening, creamy ice cream. Healthy toppings. Less choices, less mess. Clean, elegant decor. Cons: Expensive. Expensive. Expensive. I hear the word pretentious and snobby echo through this area of Palo Alto. Where is the mochi? I'll be back next week to try "fresh yogurt". I hope it's the yogurt found in stores. So I don't mean to be somewhat cynical, but in early June, I went to LA and tried more than 3 yogurt stores...just like this one. Like all of them, Fraiche yogurt had two flavors and toppings. A cup with 2 flavors is $4.50 A bowl with 3 flavors is $5.50 The price drives me crazy because I can willingly go to a grocery store and make something similar for much less. It's the same price as the places in LA. But hey this satisfies my desire for soft serve. Because it's so new (after an attempt to find In Her Shoes, but it oddly closes early on a Sunday), we walked in...almost hesitantly. The two girls behind the counter immediately asked, "Have you been here before?" The same question people asked when I walked into Pinkberry, Yo Gurt and Citrus Valley in SoCal. Then they offered free samples, the same routine. Fortunately unlike Pinkberry, the plain yogurt tasted some vanilla-like which was nice. We got a bowl of chocolate/vanilla swirl with toasted coconut, strawberries and mango. We walked to the design-like booths (chocolate colored leather) with design pillows and ate it. It was nice. My boyfriend left the first tip as the coins clanked into the jar. There's a huge sign near the front door that outlines the health benefits of yogurt. But is it? And is it healthy for the wallet? It's one of those kind of things I can see happening after dinner, a fresh dessert walking in the summer heat of Palo Alto. I had this an appetizer before our fattening dinner. Unlike other ice cream chains, I didn't feel cream-tized (aka stuffed in pain). It was refreshing as I bit into the last mango. Really refreshing. But true point, the chocolate does really taste like chocolate. Unlike the boyfriend, I don't like chocolate.

How is it possible there are two reviews already? It's only been open for 4 hours?!? This frozen yogurt is awesome. It's not too sweet like most frozen yogurt and has the slight tang that tells me I'm eating frozen yogurt and not ice cream. It seems like everything here is organic and the staff are very knowledgeable about their product. The coffee and pastries are excellent. Update: Try the hot chocolate! It's made with shaved gourmet chocolate....mmmm chocolate.

Fraiche Yogurt just opened a few weeks ago right off busy University Ave in Palo Alto. Their yogurts are fresh, slightly tart, and the impressive part is they are homemade right in the store with organic ingredients! It is a healthy alternative for the sweet tooth. They currently have 3 kinds of yogurts: plain, chocolate, and soy. Toppings include fresh fruit, toasted oat, nuts and shaved chocolate. My favorite is the plain yogurt with fresh berries.

Fresh yogurt, extremely fresh toppings. I like the way they scrape chocolate off a block and serve it on top of your ice cream. Yum! We tried the frozen Yogurt with chocolate shavings and strawberry. It was just delicious, and the chocolate shavings gave it a really yummy look. Nice hip store, desserts look too good to be eaten with the colorful toppings, but are definitely worth diving into.

There are SOOOO many places (both good and bad) that I have been meaning to write reviews about.... and yet Fraiche, with over 200 reviews, jumped to the top of my list after just one visit a mere 14 hours ago. That should tell you enough right there! I live within walking distance to Fraiche, yet I hadn't even thought to try it since I am a non-dairy kinda girl. I finally discovered from other yelpers that there is soy option, so off I dragged my husband on a chilly Wednesday evening to explore. Sure enough, the soy with chocolate shavings and raspberry compote was to die for... way exceeded my expectations . Amazingly smooth consistency, 99% fat free, and organic! My husband even liked my soy concoction better than his vanilla with chocolate and graham crackers- although he was quite happy too. I cannot believe we have been depriving ourselves of this delicacy for 7 months! This is not an inexpensive treat, but it is worth every penny. They make every topping in house, use mostly organic ingredients, and they have 50% Callebaut chocolate shavings as an option (dairy-free chocolate... score!!!) I could go on about it even more, but with 241 other reviews at this moment, you didn't really need my opinion anyway. Just go try it already! :)

I hate the long lines at your shop, I hate how it's sweltering everytime I visit Fraiche, and I don't really like the overall layout of the place. Also, mochi balls are nowhere to be seen on the menu, which Red Mango has. HOWEVER, 5 stars for bringing the tasty froyo to us Googlers :) Now I can satisfy my tart froyo craving any ol' time for free and without having to walk more than 5 mins to get it!

New natural frozen yogurt places keep opening up, but nobody does it better than Fraiche. This place nails it. Just go.

In NY, I fell in love with Pinkberry with Red Mango coming in a bit behind in terms of taste and overall satisfaction. Then I came to Palo Alto and tried Fraiche......somehow, I forgot all about Pinkberry and Red Mango. Fraiche is amazing! The creamy, tangy delisciousness of the original and the smooth heavenly chocolate just blow the competition far far far out of the water. Fraiche knows how to do it and do it right!

I've been wanting to try Fraiche for quite some time now, and yet never seem to find the time. I finally made my way over there today and it's fantastic! The shop is small and cute. I like the simple decor and the ordering is simple and easy. The staff there was very nice and gave me some samples since I wasn't sure what to get. I ended up getting a junior natural frozen yogurt with raspberry sauce. The yogurt is not to sweet and very fresh. The tartness of the raspberry went very well with the yogurt and it was a perfect treat for an afternoon in PA. Would I go again? Yes definitely. I'll have to try the regular yogurt too. The prices are a little high, but it's always good to treat yourself occasionally.

Not bad, but it doesn't compare to Pinkberry. In fact, it's quite a poor substitute for Pinkberry. Their yogurt lacks the tartness and creaminess that PB yogurt has. My only hope is that Pinkberry opens up somewhere in the bay area!!

This stuff is amazing!!! I've thoroughly enjoyed normal frozen yogurt since forever but I only ever get it periodically. This stuff I get as often as I possibly can get to downtown Palo Alto. The people who work there are super nice and very helpful. The decor is mod and very nice. It reminds me of my favorite chocolate place in Manhattan, Chocolate Bar. As a creature of habit, I always get a regular chocolate fro yo with double strawberry toppings. Amazing! I like it best when the yo is a little melted. It's so great because it doesn't have all the crazy sugar and synthetic ingredients that normal fro yo does. The flavor kind of reminds me of chocolate cheesecake because it has sweet and tart aspects. It's kind of expensive but so delicious that that's never stood in my way. Enjoy!!!

Move over Pinkberry, THE VEGANS ARE COMING & they want frozen yogurt!! Tangy & delicious soy frozen yogurt is something that should not be denied to anyone & thankfully, Fraiche has the goods. Creamy, dreamy plain soy frozen yogurt, topped with your toppings of choice from fruit to nuts to shaved Callebaut dark chocolate will pop in to your mind at the oddest times & you'll find yourself tempted to cruise down the 101 in need of a fix. That's right, a fix. I am a Fraiche addict & completely unashamed to admit it. Did I mention it's a guilt-free treat as well? Yeah, go there.. now.

I've been going nuts ever since I went to Pinkberry in NYC. Why must food chains torture me so?!? You too Fatburger! I even looked into opening a Pinkberry franchise. YES, I do like to eat THAT much. When I read about Fraiche I was so ecstatic that I immediately mass mailed my friends, and then those byatches went without me. This is directed at you A & M. After brunch with A & M yesterday in the Peninsula (I'm quick to forgive), I ran to Fraiche even though I was stuffed. Unfortunately I was a bit disappointed. The flavor did not quite have as much omph as pinkberry and it was a little too solid and creamy for me. I agree that it's expensive, especially since they're stingy with not just the toppings but the amount of yogurt itself. I paid $2 more for the 6oz and the cup was loosely filled only up to 2/3, where it then did that swirly, tapering off thing. Maybe that was a 8oz cup and they meant you'd only get 6oz of yogurt no matter the cup size. But that's deceptive advertising. I think Pinkberry lovers will find this place a let down but if you're Pinkberry virgin, go ahead and enjoy yourself. Ahh the naive.

Duuuuuuuuude. This is some good a** yogurt. I prefer the soy and the vanilla. Can't get enough of that raspberry topping. Mmmmmm and granola on top of that. I ordered a large all for myself today. Greedy heifer. I usually do not like chocolate ice cream or yogurt cuz they don't taste like chocolate! The chocolate yogurt at Fraiche is all chocolatey goodness and yummy. It's a little pricey, but totally worth it.

I've tried a lot of different yogurt places all over the Bay Area and I must say, this is by far my favorite. The only downside is when it's really crowded, it gets so stuffy inside but other than that, the yogurt is fantastic and I love the toppings :) Parking can be a little tricky depending on what time you go but the same can be said for almost all of downtown Palo Alto. Try this place out, it's delicious.

either you love this place or you hate it..... I LOVE IT! this place is definitely in my top 10 of the yay area. the natural froyo is extremely satisfying, not too sweet, somewhat tarty, and silky smooth. Add a double whammy of strawberries and shaved chocolate, you have heaven in your mouth. Simply put, if you are ever in palo alto, you should hit this place up. Cliffs: Fraiche froyo+strawberries+shaved choco is packed with awesomeness. Fraiche puts Pinkberry & Red Mango to shame Fraiche = :)

My cousin Larry Introduced me to this place. I am glad that he did! So here is my light review for this light boutique. It has a very nice atmosphere, a good place to enjoy a sunny afternoon and snack on some o-so-good yogurt. The decoration is simple and comforting. I love how they make their own yogurt and their toppings are always fresh. The staff is really friendly and always knowledgeable about their product. The yogurt is freshly made in the back of the store. Everything from the atmosphere to the fruit floats a very refreshing feeling. I would highly recommend this place. A little pricier at $4.50 is still a decent price to pay for a healthy snack, perfect for these summer days.

I really like Fraiche's yogurt, but it does have a bit of a different taste that I can see some people not liking. Both my wife and I prefer Fraiche to Red Mango. My only complaint is that even though it has only been open a year or so, the interior feels like it is already getting a bit worn. This is probably sue to the fact that the place is usually packed.

I recently went here, and I thought it was just ok. It was way to small and crowded for my liking, and a bit pricey. I ordered a chocolate vanilla swirl with mochi and granola. The mochi was way too soft and powdery for my taste, but the granola was great. Th yogurt was good too...a bit tart for chocolate..but overall good.. however, i was quite disappointed when i found that the center of my froyo was hollow - i felt ripped off. i like Blush better for organic fro-yo.

I found this place after eating in the area. They do a good job on fresh fruits. fruits do change depending in what season you go. Good place to take a date or girlfriend since they are open late. they can also add honey on top for free.

Today to mix it up we tried the Apple crumble with almond, over soy. The best yogurt dish I have ever had. Textures, flavors, tempuratures, smells - it was a beautiful medley. Highly recommend the crumble!

Still the best in the area. And, still a million light years better than Pinkberry. I've never understood why people think Pinkberry tastes better. The yogurt at Fraiche actually tastes like fresh yogurt and never leaves a funky, artificial after taste. I'm smitten.

oh my gah. Fraiche is the epitome of Palo Alto Hippiness. You have Froyo, perfect for the trendy iPhone-toting, messenger bag, fixed-gear bike hipsters. The froyo is organic and made in-house, a turn on for all the 'OMG NO Hormones & Pesticides' Palo Alto-ians. But, aside from all that health craze, its still good Froyo, and still hits the spot on those summer days.

  • Sabrina M.

This place is awesome. The yogurt and the food are fresh and well made. I will go out of my way to meet friends here. Of course I enjoy some flavors more than others but there is always a flavor I enjoy. The frozen yogurt is less sugary than Pinkberry and I like that! The only problem is downtown Palo Alto parking!

This was one of the last firm sponsored food runs from my summer at my firm, and considering that it was AFTER I found out about my permanent offer (woot woot), the froyo tasted extra good. Seriously though, the yogurt is delicious, and it's homemade and organic! What more can you ask for.

Great yogurt The chocolate is my fav. I like it with strawberry and almonds. There chocolate chip cookies are some of the best around, but be careful you will not want to stop at one.

Where's the health department when you need 'em? I stopped in and was surprised to see damp rags under the sink, on the floor and behind the yogurt machines. If you want "Fraiche bacteria," step to the front of the line. Check out these pics...you can't make this up...I lived in a fraternity house for two years, and I don't think our kitchen was as bad as this.

Less selection than the other fro-yo type places around, but more ostensibly health-oriented, and the ingredients are much more artisan in style. More compotes, more fancy names for chocolate... Even a homemade version of an Oreo which is delicious! But certainly not an Oreo. The prices are also higher, of course, than the by-weight places around, though they manage to pack a big punch in those tiny tiny cups. It's a nice dessert place, and the decor is that indie-chic sort of thing that's totally spot-on for this area. Worth a visit, though maybe less so for those prioritizing frugality and free will!

This is one of my favorite places for frozen yogurt in the bay area. Although it does get crowded at times and is on the pricier side, the combination of chocolate flakes and raspberry puree on original (or hippy vanilla, as a friend called it) is so delicious that it is worth the extra time and money. Plus, it's always fun to say 'fraiche' any which way you will. And their pumpkin fro yo is THE BEST pumpkin fro yo I have ever tasted--I'm sure I will be stopping by a few more times before fall is over.

It was meant to be! *sigh* After this past week of cramming, a night of gluttony was well deserved. We walked out our Caribbean feast to the closest yogurt joint near Coconuts and to my luck, it just so happened to be the yogurt joint that I've been DYING to try! I mean, 527 reviews! What has taken me so long? As a first timer, i wasn't familiar to their method of ordering, so i asked the cashier to kindly walk me through the ordering process to my yogurt bliss. They serve 3 types of yogurt: Soft yogurt, Frozen yogurt and SOY yogurt. SOY!? You guys got me there. I immediately decided on the soy and without hesitation added my two toppings of home-made mochi and mangoes. The mochi definitely has a distinct taste compared to other Froyo places; Fresh, large square chunks that aren't as sweet as other places. I also had a chance to try the regular yogurt and I like this place better than Red Mango, hands down. Although its a tad on the expensive side, it's proven to be worth it with its friendly service, tasty yogurt and quality of toppings. I'll be making this a regular stop whenever I'm in PA.

I used to love Fraiche because of their tart original flavor - unfortunately, it is now a lot sweeter. Blech. If I wanted froyo with a ton of added sugar, I'd go to any other froyo place.
